Attached below is a cover letter and guidance from The Director-General for Education, Justice and Communities of the Scottish Government which was sent to Chief Executives of Local Authorities in Scotland.
The Guidance was developed by the UK Government and refined for Scottish purposes by the Scottish Government in collaboration with a number of partners. This advice aims to help local authorities and partners better understand the experiences of children returning from Syria, and the support available to safeguard them.
As set out in the Guidance, the Home Office have funded and created a new national programme that will provide local authorities with expert support on the mental and emotional needs of returning British children to help them reintegrate and build a stable life in the UK.
