Emotional Abuse has emerged as the most prevalent category of Child Protection Registration in Aberdeenshire. Between October 2024 and March 2025, it accounted for 50% of all registrations, highlighting the urgent need for targeted intervention and support in this area. There is a significant increase in cases affecting children and young people. Emotional abuse can be subtle and difficult to identify, yet its effects on a child’s mental health, development, and relationships are often profound and enduring.
